eLearning and eCourses for a distance learning university/content on readiness for the digital University as per NEP and UGC guidelines of LMS and support systemThe vision of Digital University will be to increase access to quality higher education programmes through the innovative use of ICT tools and platforms. It will be offering programmes at Degree, Diploma, and Certificate levels either under its umbrella or in collaboration with the spokes. The Digital University ecosystem will have three essential components viz. Technology Platform provider, Digital content creator, and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) with the Digital University at the core of the ecosystem. For decades and longer, we have heard educators and technologists making a case for the transformative power of technology in learning. However, the pandemic drastically shifted the landscape, forcing educators to rely on technology for virtual learning. AI has the power to optimize both learning and teaching, helping the education sector evolve to better benefit students and teachers alike. As such, AI-enabled personalized education promises to yield many of the benefits of one-on-one instruction at a per-student cost similar to large university lecture classes. The system applies to both online courses and courses with a hybrid of classroom and online education. The term “quality” is an inevitable keyword. The quality of education depends mainly on the quality of the available learning content and the personalized recommendations that guide each learner to the most suitable learning content. An online degree or short course qualification – eLearning courses offer flexibility, enabling you to study at your own pace, any place and any time. As the Prime Minister said, “Digital connectivity is what kept our education system alive in this time of a global pandemic. We are seeing how the digital divide is rapidly shrinking in India. Innovation is ensuring our inclusion. This budget will help in implementing NEP. National Digital University is an unprecedented step. The problem of shortage of seats can be resolved. There will be unlimited seats. I urge all stakeholders to ensure digital uni starts as soon as possible.” The Prime Minister today further added, “Be it e-Vidya, One Class One Channel, Digital Labs, Digital University, such educational infrastructure is going to help the youth a lot. This is an attempt to provide better solutions for education to all, be it for villages, poor, Dalit, backward, tribal, in the socio-economic setup of India.” The proposed Digital University is a step in the right direction as a world leader in virtual education, and its accessible learning management system creates engaging, immersive learning experiences, links peer learners to build strong learning communities and synchronizes experiential learning by blending online education with physical mode (phygital). The stressing of the need for a Digital University is to provide access to all. Apart from children’s education, digital universities are essential in healthcare to train adult education and upskilling. Also, colleges can get affiliated with the Digital University and make a better education system as it can admit students to the local program and provide local support to local students. Digital education reaches out to unreachable people in remote areas, villages, and mountainous areas. For them, it is challenging to move to cities for quality education as it will put much pressure on their living expenses. As per NEP directives, online teaching and Open Distance Learning (ODL); and all infrastructure and learning materials are accessible and available to learners with disabilities. At the same time, UGC guidelines mention about the quality education provided to each local student with the help of Digital University. From online textbooks to fully remote lectures, the advancements in e-tech (education technology) are ten-fold. Today, AI plays a role in helping students and teachers optimize and automate both learning and teaching tasks. As the AI industry expands and innovation is at the forefront, we’ll see improved learning outcomes for all students and educators. As we all know, personalization is one of the biggest trends in education. With eLearning distance education, students now have a personalized approach to learning programs based on their own unique experiences and preferences. It can adapt to each student’s level of knowledge, learning speed, and desired goals, so they’re getting the most out of their education. Plus, these AI-powered solutions can analyze students’ previous learning histories, identify weaknesses and offer courses best suited for improvement, providing many opportunities for a personalized learning experience. While it’s not uncommon for students to require extra help outside of the classroom, many teachers don’t have free time after hours. AI tutors and chatbots are a perfect solution in these scenarios. While no chatbot can truly replace an educator, these tools can help students sharpen their skills and improve weak spots outside of the classroom. They provide a one-on-one learning experience without having the teacher there to answer questions at all hours of the day. An AI-powered chatbot can answer student questions at a faster response speed. There is nothing more frustrating than asking a question only to have it answered three days later. Teachers and faculty are often bombarded with repetitive questions daily. Through support, automation and conversational intelligence, it can help students answer their most commonly asked questions in seconds. Not only does this free up much time for educators, but it also allows students to spend less time tracking down answers or waiting for a response to their questions. AI-powered tools make education accessible for all students, anytime and anywhere. Each student learns at their own pace, and 24/7 access makes it easier for students to explore what works for them without waiting on an educator.
